Lincoln Center has collapsed all of its seasonal applications and sequence into a single initiative, Summer for the City (May 14-Aug. 14). The festival embraces variety, with free events that embody a Pride-themed Mini Kiki Ball and a Juneteenth celebration . The Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, survivors of the reorganization, plays six completely different packages, that includes Henri Vieuxtemps’s extremely embroidered Violin Concerto No. 5, with Joshua Bell (Aug. 2-3), and Mozart’s Requiem (Aug. 5-6). If the latter seems like a dream to you … the good news is that music festivals are slowly on the comeback. And, as the music trade reels from the serious hit it took this previous year, lineups are filling up rapidly with artists who are eager to get again on stage.
