During her tenure at Harvey Mudd College, her work has helped assist the Computer Science faculty’s capacity to innovate, and has raised the share of women majoring in laptop science from less than 15 p.c to more than forty % at present. She began a college in her house at age thirteen and wrote a geography textbook for her students, which was later adopted by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico. Roqué had a ardour for astronomy and education, founding a number of girls-only faculties in addition to the College of Mayagüez, which later became the Mayagüez Campus of the University of Puerto Rico.
